Sheffield launches theatre group for older performers
University of Sheffield PhD student Bridie Moore is launching a theatre group for older performers to explore the representations and experiences of older people. Bridie is looking for performers over the age of 50 to form the group that will be a central part of her research into performances of age and ageing.
Passages Theatre Group will develop performances to be staged over the next two years. Bridie aims to secure funding for the group to continue beyond her research project.
Bridie has over 30 years experience as a theatre director and drama facilitator in mainstream and community theatre and as a teacher in further and community education. She has also worked with companies such as The Everyman Theatre in Liverpool and Battersea Arts Centre in London.
Passages Theatre Group Launch will be from 10am - 12 noon on Thursday 4th October 2012, Studio 1 at the University of Sheffield Theatre Department, Shearwood Road, S10 2TD. After the launch Passages Theatre Group will meet every week during term-time at the same time and place. There will be no cost to take part in the group.
