MUSIC FOR LIFE is a research project that explores the potential for active music-making to make a significant contribution to the quality of life amongst older people. Research findings are based on measures of well-being as well as qualitative data gathered from interviews, focus groups and observations at each of the case study partner sites.

This conference will provide a forum for presentation and discussion of findings relating to:

  1. The role of music-making in the lives of older people
  2. The link between participation in music activities and the improvement of well-being of older people
  3. Potential wider benefits to families and/or residential communities when older people engage in music-making
  4.  Issues relating to training for facilitators of music making with older people
